The RHS JROTC Color Guard serves as the Tiger Battalionâs most visible and prestigious unit. Tasked with the solemn duty of presenting our National and State colors, this four-cadet team brings dignity and military precision to Home Football Games, Assemblies (Veterans Appreciation, Senior Awards, Graduation), Parades (Homecoming, Veterans Day, Christmas), and Civic Events (MLK) throughout the community.
The RHS JROTC Drill Team is a premier competitive unit dedicated to the mastery of military discipline, synchronized movement, and elite leadership. Representing the backbone of military tradition, our team transforms Cadets into experts in Drill and Ceremony, focusing on the "snap and pop" of precision maneuvers that define a successful unit.Â
The RHS JROTC Marksmanship Team is a competitive air rifle shooting sport that tests precision, accuracy, and consistency in target shooting. A Team consists of four team members firing .177 caliber sporter air rifles in the prone, standing, and kneeling positions on a 10-meter range. Each position allows for up to 100 points with a possible maximum individual score of 300 points.Â
The RHS JROTC Raider Team is the ultimate test of physical grit, mental toughness, and tactical leadership. As the most physically demanding extracurricular in JROTC, we transform cadets into elite competitors through high-impact challenges that mirror real-world Army skills. Whether we are constructing a one-rope bridge in record time or powering through a 5K team run, Raiders thrive on esprit de corps and the drive to excel under pressure. A Team consists of 10 Cadets (Male, Female, or Coed (Male/Female).Â
The RHS JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) is a premier national competition that challenges cadets to excel in mental stamina and teamwork, offering the chance to compete at the National Championship in Washington, D.C.
Leadership Team is designed for cadets who want to master and apply the JROTC curriculum. It emphasizes leadership theory, hands-on problem solving, and collaborative learning.
Academic Team focuses on core scholastic subjects and college readiness. Cadets compete in a fast-paced environment that tests their "mental workouts" and critical thinking.
One of the most exciting and rewarding opportunities through JROTC is the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC). This highly respected six-day summer leadership camp brings together cadets from across the region to take part in challenging confidence-building adventure training activities. Conducted on an active military installation, JCLC places Cadets in a new and demanding environment where they develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, and personal responsibility. Cadets selected to attend JCLC are recognized as having strong leadership potential and are often being prepared for key leadership roles during their senior year in JROTC.
