Getting to the islands of Hawai'i is the most difficult part of the journey, but once you experience the piercing blue color of the ocean and unique culture all of it will have been worth it.

If you enjoy the night life and a busy vacation, Oahu is the island for you. There are tons of events to enjoy, luau's to attend, and shops to browse through. Although this is the most touristy island of the Hawaiian Islands, it has plenty of warm sandy beaches that are tucked away where only some visitors know about.
Traveling to this island is the easiest to get to from the Mainland USA because of popularity. Airfare tends to be a little on the expensive side, but if you travel during the right time of the year, you can get some great discounts. Currently, round trip flights from Los Angeles to Honolulu, Oahu, HI run from about $600 to $1,000 if you are booking one month in advance. There are plenty of hotels to choose from in downtown Honolulu, but if you prefer a homier experience, AirBNB is also an option. If you are not yet old enough to rent a car Uber, Lyft, and the public transit system are also available. From personal experience, Oahu's public transit is very reliable and makes rounds frequently - meaning that if you miss one bus you will most likely only have to wait about 15 to 30 minutes to catch the next one.

Kauai is a more settled-down version of Oahu - no high-rise buildings, busy night life, and a much smaller, more remote airport. While you will enjoy more of a relaxing and private vacation, there are still plenty of exciting luaus and events that the more popular hotels put on. The main popular hotels are right near the airport, however if you drive about 30 minutes on HI-56 N, you will run into the town of Kapa'a. Kapa'a offers many beautiful and luxurious condo options that include private pools and hot tubs for guests, as well as private beach access. Transportation consists of Uber, rentals, and a public transit system. However, your best bet is either Uber or a rental vehicle. From personal experience, Kauai's public transit system is not reliable and is few and far between.
Flying to Kauai from the Mainland USA is a little more difficult and is not as direct as flying to Oahu. However, there is a saying that goes, "great things come to those who wait." Currently, flights cost around $400 up to $1,000 from Los Angeles, CA to Lihue, Kauai, HI.

Envision yourself sitting on the beach with whomever you brought with you on vacation - just sipping ice cold lemonade and enjoying each crash of the waves. No one else around you; just a quiet, warm sandy beach. The island of Maui is one of the least popular islands because it is more rural and not as urban as the others. Uber or Lyft are not offered on the island, therefore making finding transportation more tricky to arrange. Even though finding transportation might be difficult, there are many options for places to stay. From hotels to Airbnb's, there are many choices that will suit your specific needs.
Airfare to fly from Los Angeles, CA to either Kapalua, Kahului, or Hana, Maui, HI ranges from about $350 to $1000. Unlike the other islands, you have more than one option for which city to fly into.
