Meet Rixi, the Owner and Creative Director of Ramay Studio of Dance. With over a decade of experience as the director of a dance company in South Africa, Rixi brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and leadership to the studio. After relocating to Perth in 2012, she founded Ramay Studio of Dance with a vision to create a supportive and inspiring environment where every dancer can thrive. Rixi holds recognised dance teaching qualifications across a range of styles, including Hip Hop, Disco Jazz, Slowdance, Rock and Roll, and Hustle, through the South African Teachers of Dance Association. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, specialising in Dance and Drama, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on student behaviour and wellbeing. Rixi is currently a PhD Candidate, undertaking research into non-visible disabilities among students in the Performing Arts environment. In addition to her studio leadership, Rixi is a registered dance adjudicator with the Australian Dance Adjudicators Association, further reflecting her commitment to excellence and professional contribution within the Australian dance community. Her own training includes advanced examinations in her specialist genres, alongside further study in Spanish, Contemporary, Salsa, and Gumboot dancing.  Professionally, Rixi performed with the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State in South Africa, appearing in numerous productions, events, and festivals. She also has extensive experience choreographing for a variety of events, including beauty pageants and high school musical productions. Rixi is a passionate advocate for inclusive performing arts and firmly believes that dance and performance are for everyone, regardless of ability. She finds great joy in supporting each student’s individual journey and growth.

Rachel Stander is a passionate and dedicated dance instructor at Ramay Studio of Dance. She began dancing at the age of three and has developed strong expertise across a range of styles, including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Rock & Roll, Hustle, and Hip Hop. Her particular passion for Hip Hop is reflected in her energetic and engaging teaching style, as well as her success at competitions throughout Perth. 

Rachel is the lead choreographer and trainer for the studio’s competition team, guiding dancers who regularly perform at events and competitions across the region. Her performance experience includes numerous concerts and a standout appearance in the mass ensemble for Grease at RAC Arena. 

Alongside her work in dance, Rachel is currently completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. As part of her course, Rachel studies Exercise Physiology supporting her approach to dance training, allowing her to condition students safely, build strength and endurance, and promote healthy, sustainable performance practices.

Her vibrant energy, commitment, and depth of experience make her a valued member of the Ramay team, inspiring students to grow in confidence and reach their full potential.
