Barcoding the brainAbout 5 years ago, neuroscientist Tony Zador saw a slide at a scientific meeting that changed the course of his career. It showed a slice of mouse brain tissue containing a bright rainbow of neurons. Under most microscopes, neurons normally look gray and so densely packed as to be indistinguishable. But here each cell had been genetically engineered to produce a random, colorful fluorescent molecule. ![Figure][1]</img> Inserting unique nucleotide barcodes (fluorescent dots, above) in neurons allows scientists to map cell networks in intact brain tissue. IMAGE: WYSS INSTITUTE/HARVARD UNIVERSITY Zador was struck by an idea: If he could replace the half-dozen distinct colors with a label consisting of, say, 30 random nucleotides—the building blocks of RNA and DNA—he could give unique barcodes to an almost infinite number of neurons. Then, if he also found a way to chemically link barcodes together across synapses, Zador could use high-throughput gene sequencing to build a synapse-by-synapse map of brain connections—a goal dear to neuroscientists who want to understand how the brain's intricate wiring underlies its functions. Unlike existing brain-mapping methods, the process could be thorough, accurate, and fast. Now, after a long “slog” and a marriage with another technology for tracking the barcodes in intact brain tissue, the researcher at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York believes the technique is ready for prime time. “A lot of individual steps and problems needed to be solved,” says Ed Callaway, a neuroscientist at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego, California. But the refined version “could, in one shot, get all [the connections of] a single [mouse] brain.” The U.S. government is placing a large bet on Zador's method. As part of a project led by molecular engineer George Church of Harvard University, the technique was selected last month to receive a $21 million, 5-year brain mapping grant, one of six new projects under the Machine Intelligence from Cortical Networks, or MICrONS, program, sponsored by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). Part of the U.S. Brain Research through Advancing Neurotechnologies initiative, launched at President Barack Obama's request in 2013, MICrONS aims to map every neuron and synaptic connection within a 1-cubic-millimeter chunk of tissue from the mouse visual cortex. Ultimately, IARPA hopes those detailed brain connection maps will help scientists design computer architectures able to perform tasks that are easy for a brain but out of reach for artificial intelligence: recognizing a person or object from many different angles after seeing it only once, for example. In an earlier version of his method, Zador and his team mapped neural connections in mice by injecting viruses encoding nucleotide barcodes into their brains. They would then use a custom-designed chemical to join and extract the paired barcodes on either side of a synapse from the postmortem brain. Although the technique could reveal which neurons were connected to other neurons, fine spatial information about where cells were located was lost because they had to mash up the brain tissue to extract the barcodes, Zador says. “It was a brain-in-a-blender approach,” R. Jacob Vogelstein, the IARPA program manager who runs the project in McLean, Virginia, says. The companion technique, developed by Church, solves that issue by allowing Zador to read the barcodes without the need to extract them from the brain. The technique, called FISSEQ, applies washes of different fluorescent molecules to the tissue. Each molecule links to specific nucleotides, so successive washes cause each “letter” in a barcode to light up one at a time, like a series of brightly colored Christmas lights. An optical microscope captures the sequence: If a barcode in a given cell is ATGGCG, for example, the sequence of colors might be red-yellow-green-green-cyan-green, Zador says. When barcodes from two different cells show up within a synapse's distance of each other, a computer program infers that those two neurons are connected, Zador says. Zador and Church predict their joint technique can extract the connectivity of a cubic millimeter of mouse brain tissue in days or weeks—not the months or years typical of electron microscopy. But hurdles remain, Zador says. Injecting the viruses does not guarantee that 100% of neurons receive only one unique barcode apiece. To address that problem, Church is now working on a way to genetically engineer mice to express random RNA sequences, barcodes, in their neurons during development. Though he supports the general direction of the project, Karel Svoboda, a neuroscientist at Janelia Research Campus in Ashburn, Virginia, is skeptical that the barcoding strategy or its main competitor, improved electron microscopy, can fulfill IARPA's lofty ambitions. He suspects the mapping will contain too many errors. And Svoboda questions the premise of MICrONS. Given that most important brain functions are distributed across several brain regions, devising useful or fundamental neural computations based on the connection maps of a cubic millimeter of cortex is “a pipe dream, in my opinion,” he says. Vogelstein is more optimistic. If the brain has stereotypical rules that govern cortical circuitry, a cubic millimeter is “a sufficiently large chunk” of brain tissue that it should give a good picture of how neurons are wired to perform complex computations. “We believe and hope that there is this modularity,” he says—indeed, “all of neuroscience is banking on it.” If not? MICrONS may be the first to produce “solid evidence” of that disappointing fact, Vogelstein says. [1]: pending:yes

-- US Patent and Trade Office, Patent #6,506,148 on subliminal behavior modification, 1/14/2003

Dear friends,

The arsenal of behavior modification technologies developed by government and industry is vast. A number of well researched books on the subject have been published revealing the complexity and variety of these technologies. Armen Victorian's Mind Controllers is one that gives an excellent overview of the subject. A 10-page summary of this eye-opening book, which includes hundreds of footnotes for verification purposes, is available on this webpage.

The summary of a key patent given below describes technology used for behavior modification through TV, computer monitors, video, and DVD programming. And it can most certainly be applied to our cell phones, too. If you have a science background, consider reading the full 16-page patent to see the high level of sophistication involved. The manipulation is not done through the insertion of single-frame anomalies, as has been done in the past, but rather by modulation of the feed or signal.

It is unfortunate that very few are aware of these subliminal behavior modification capabilities. With limited regulatory oversight and no way of knowing how much these technologies are being used by the military, corporations, and even foreign entities to manipulate our thoughts and emotions, we have to ask how much the public is being secretly influenced to achieve hidden agendas.

It is well known that the police are using related technologies for crowd control. Yet it is also likely that corporations are using these methods to manipulate our emotions in ways that increase profits.

Like any tool, these technologies can be used for either the benefit or detriment of society. As the media is not covering this vitally important topic, it is up to us to spread the word and demand accountability for this dangerous technology. Let us call for open public discussion on these vital matters. Please spread this information so that we might assure these technologies are not used to support greed and the quest for power, but rather for the benefit of humankind.

With best wishes for a transformed world,

Nervous system manipulation by electromagnetic fields from monitors

Abstract

Physiological effects have been observed in a human subject in response to stimulation of the skin with weak electromagnetic fields that are pulsed with certain frequencies near 1/2 Hz or 2.4 Hz, such as to excite a sensory resonance. Many computer monitors and TV tubes, when displaying pulsed images, emit pulsed electromagnetic fields of sufficient amplitudes to cause such excitation. It is therefore possible to manipulate the nervous system of a subject by pulsing images displayed on a nearby computer monitor or TV set. For the latter, the image pulsing may be imbedded in the program material, or it may be overlaid by modulating a video stream, either as an RF signal or as a video signal. The image displayed on a computer monitor may be pulsed effectively by a simple computer program. For certain monitors, pulsed electromagnetic fields capable of exciting sensory resonances in nearby subjects may be generated even as the displayed images are pulsed with subliminal intensity.

Appl. No.: 872528

Filed: June 1, 2001

SUMMARY

Computer monitor and TV monitors can be made to emit weak low-frequency electromagnetic fields merely by pulsing the intensity of displayed images. Experiments have shown that the 1/2 Hz sensory resonance can be excited in this manner in a subject near the monitor. The 2.4 Hz sensory resonance can also be excited in this fashion. Hence, a TV monitor or computer monitor can be used to manipulate the nervous system of nearby people.

Abstract: Apparatus for and method of sensing brain waves at a position remote from a subject whereby electromagnetic signals of different frequencies are simultaneously transmitted to the brain of the subject in which the signals interfere with one another to yield a waveform which is modulated by the subject's brain waves. The interference waveform ... is re-transmitted by the brain to a receiver where it is demodulated and amplified. The demodulated waveform also can be used to produce a compensating signal which is transmitted back to the brain to effect a desired change in electrical activity therein.

Note: This patent is dated 1976. How much progress has been made since then?

USP # 6,017,302 (Jan. 25, 2000), Subliminal Acoustic Manipulation of Nervous Systems

Abstract: In human subjects, sensory resonances can be excited by subliminal atmospheric acoustic pulses that are tuned to the resonance frequency. The 1/2 Hz sensory resonance affects the autonomic nervous system and may cause relaxation, drowsiness, or sexual excitement, depending on the precise acoustic frequency near 1/2 Hz used. The effects of the 2.5 Hz resonance include slowing of certain cortical processes, sleepiness, and disorientation. There is further application as a nonlethal weapon that can be used in law enforcement standoff situations, for causing drowsiness and disorientation in targeted subjects.

Note: Under the background section of this patent, it is stated, "There is an embodiment suitable for law enforcement operations in which a subject's nervous system is manipulated from a considerable distance, as in a standoff situation. The invention can also be implemented as a sound tape or CD ROM which contains audible audio program material together with subliminal subaudio signals. The recording can be done by mixing the audio and subaudio signals in the usual manner."

USP # 7,629,918 (Dec. 8, 2009), Multifunctional radio frequency directed energy system

Abstract: An RFDE system includes an RFDE transmitter and at least one RFDE antenna. The RFDE transmitter and antenna direct high power electromagnetic energy towards a target sufficient to cause high energy damage or disruption of the target. The RFDE system further includes a targeting system for locating the target. The targeting system includes a radar transmitter and at least one radar antenna for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic energy to locate the target.

Note: The background section of this patent states, "Radio frequency directed energy (RFDE) systems are known in the art for directing high power RF, microwave and/or millimeter wave electromagnetic energy to destroy or disrupt a target. Although RFDE systems typically serve as military weapons, RFDE systems need not be limited to weapon systems. For example, RFDE ... may be used for non-military purposes such as destroying or disrupting foreign objects, contaminants, undesirable atmospheric conditions, or other types of targets."

USP # 6,091,994 (July 18, 2000), Pulsative Manipulation of Nervous Systems

Abstract: Method and apparatus for manipulating the nervous system by imparting subliminal pulsative cooling to the subject's skin at a frequency that is suitable for the excitation of a sensory resonance. At present, two major sensory resonances are known, with frequencies near 1/2 Hz and 2.4 Hz. The 1/2 Hz sensory resonance causes relaxation, sleepiness, ptosis of the eyelids, a tonic smile, a "knot" in the stomach, or sexual excitement, depending on the precise frequency used. The 2.4 Hz resonance causes the slowing of certain cortical activities.

Upon receiving a coded activating signal, the positional fix signal decoder is energized, determining a positional fix. The transmitter subsequently transmits through the antenna a homing signal to be received by a remote locator.

Note: In other words, this device could be placed inside the mouth in fillings to track the position of the individual targeted.

USP # 5,507,291 (April 16, 1996), Method and an Associated Apparatus for Remotely Determining Information as to Person's Emotional State

The implementations of the invention are adapted to the source of video stream that drives the monitor, be it a computer program, a TV broadcast, a video tape or a digital video disc (DVD).

For a computer monitor, the image pulses can be produced by a suitable computer program. The pulse frequency may be controlled through keyboard input, so that the subject can tune to an individual sensory resonance frequency. The pulse amplitude can be controlled as well in this manner.

A program written in Visual Basic(R) is particularly suitable for use on computers that run the Windows 95(R) or Windows 98(R) operating system. The structure of such a program is described. Production of periodic pulses requires an accurate timing procedure. Such a procedure is constructed from the GetTimeCount function available in the Application Program Interface (API) of the Windows operating system, together with an extrapolation procedure that improves the timing accuracy.

Pulse variability can be introduced through software, for the purpose of thwarting habituation of the nervous system to the field stimulation, or when the precise resonance frequency is not known. The variability may be a pseudo-random variation within a narrow interval, or it can take the form of a frequency or amplitude sweep in time. The pulse variability may be under control of the subject.

The program that causes a monitor to display a pulsing image may be run on a remote computer that is connected to the user computer by a link; the latter may partly belong to a network, which may be the Internet.

For a TV monitor, the image pulsing may be inherent in the video stream as it flows from the video source, or else the stream may be modulated such as to overlay the pulsing. In the first case, a live TV broadcast can be arranged to have the feature imbedded simply by slightly pulsing the illumination of the scene that is being broadcast. This method can of course also be used in making movies and recording video tapes and DVDs.

Video tapes can be edited such as to overlay the pulsing by means of modulating hardware. A simple modulator is discussed wherein the luminance signal of composite video is pulsed without affecting the chroma signal. The same effect may be introduced at the consumer end, by modulating the video stream that is produced by the video source. A DVD can be edited through software, by introducing pulse-like variations in the digital RGB signals. Image intensity pulses can be overlaid onto the analog component video output of a DVD player by modulating the luminance signal component. Before entering the TV set, a television signal can be modulated such as to cause pulsing of the image intensity by means of a variable delay line that is connected to a pulse generator.

Certain monitors can emit electromagnetic field pulses that excite a sensory resonance in a nearby subject, through image pulses that are so weak as to be subliminal. This is unfortunate since it opens a way for mischievous application of the invention, whereby people are exposed unknowingly to manipulation of their nervous systems for someone else's purposes. Such application would be unethical and is of course not advocated. It is mentioned here in order to alert the public to the possibility of covert abuse that may occur while being online, or while watching TV, a video, or a DVD.

This paragraph on behavior modification is from page 205 of Dr. Victorian's Mind Controllers:

The latest development in the technology of induced fear and mind control is the cloning of the human EEG or brain waves of any targeted victim, or indeed groups. With the use of powerful computers, segments of human emotions which include anger, anxiety, sadness, fear, embarrassment, jealousy, resentment, shame, and terror, have been identified and isolated within the EEG signals as 'emotion signature clusters.' Their relevant frequencies and amplitudes have been measured. Then the very frequency/amplitude cluster is synthesized and stored on another computer. Each one of these negative emotions is properly and separately tagged. They are then placed on the Silent Sound carrier frequencies and could silently trigger the occurrence of the same basic emotion in another human being.

Note: To understand how this is technically possible, read brief descriptions of U.S. patents below.

2. China's Bid to Write the Global Rules on Data Security Herfst 2020

From the text above;

However, both our understanding of what we face, and artificial intelligence itself, have moved beyond the Borg – which has become in popular parlance “so 1980s”. We now have to deal with the fact that artificial intelligence is starting to become self-aware. In recent presentations and interviews (here, here, here and here) scientist Harald Kautz-Vella has discussed how alive Morgellons fibers and explosive smart nano dust are connected with black goo (a sentient fluid which is part of or ruled by artificial intelligence). According to him, this black goo is self-aware. He calls it a self-organizing liquid crystal. It operates intelligently, emits, receives and responds to RF signals, and transforms DNA to its own specifications. It was discarded into the sewage system, deemed to have no use, but is now changing all forms of life there. It is airborne and can reach humans through AC systems. Harald believes that the black goo is a “bi-directional controller of consciousness and subconsciousness”, is connected to quantum computers and is altering all life on Earth. He also describes an experience he had where he was holding a stone formed from black goo, which made him feel so angry and hateful that he felt like killing someone.
