Meghan took in a group of 4-month old kittens, as she had promised to a local resident. As she put them in a holding cage and the person bringing them was leaving - he said “by the way, the black one is blind.”
Throughout the day Meghan pondered how she was going to care for a blind kitten. Visitors to the shop came and went but towards the end of the day a woman stopped by on her way home to Oregon.
She had 2 rescue cats of her own at home already, and when she asked “which kitty here needs me most” - there was a clear choice - Loki went home to Oregon that day! She told us: "I was blessed with Loki the blind kitty about 5 years ago when I visited RAIN. I saw her and knew she was for our family. She is rarely left alone without humans (we have 7 of us total) and is never without her pack of cats. We travel back and forth between Minnesota, Oregon and California."
Loki travels with HER pack- Mr. Simmering (top step) and Smitty Kitty (middle kitty) help guide her and keep her company during the day. If Loki is left alone she gets in serious troubles- like pawing her way through window screens to reach whatever she hears/smells outside. Her hearing and smelling senses are very strong and she “hunts” helium balloons and all sorts of toys.
