Advisor: Prof. Jung-Kul Lee
Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Konkuk University, and the Head at the Institute of SK Chemicals-KU Biomaterials. Enzyme engineering and biocatalysis on various enzymes for synthesis of value-added products from waste and single-carbon compounds. We have developed multiple biocatalytic systems via cell-free biocatalytic pathways and distinct different immobilization systems for improving the catalytic properties of enzymes (acetyl-CoA carboxylase, laccase, alcohol dehydrogenase, Formolase, etc.) along with cofactor regenerative systems.
Advisor: Associate Prof. Sanjay Kumar Singh Patel
Biohydrogen and PHA production from biowaste through microbial conversion. We have developed whole cell and enzyme immobilization techniques for bioconversion and process development. We have also produced value-added products via microbial fermentation, like ethanol, acetaldehyde, acetoin, etc.
Advisor: Prof. Vipin Chandra Kalia at KU and Former Chief Scientist at CSIR-IGIB
Microbial fermentation technology uses bacterial fermentation to produce hydrogen and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) from sewage water and industrial glycerol. We have also worked on bacterial quorum sensing (QS) to identify biofilm-forming bacteria and biofilm inhibition through QS.
Advisor: Associate Prof. Ashok Sharma
We have worked on epigenetic mechanisms of regulations and biomarkers of cancer: testis/germline antigen POTE (prostate, placenta, ovary, and testis-expressed).
Advisor: Dr. M.A. Qadar Pasha (Emeritus Scientist)
The physiological changes and genetic susceptibility associated with acclimatization to high altitude. We have identified many genetic polymorphisms in the Indian population that are linked to the ability to adapt to high altitudes. A parallel interest is the involvement of these genes and pathways in rheumatic heart disease.
Advisor: Prof. Malik Zainul Abdin (HOD of Dept. of Biotechnology)
He co-supervised me with Dr. M.A.Q. Pasha on the genetic predispositions and physiological adaptations involved in adjusting to high-altitude environments.
