In 2023, experts estimated that 3,200,000 dogs entered shelters and rescues. Although people adopted approximately 2.2 million dogs, shelters euthanized over 360,000 dogs. By adopting, you save a life.
On February 20, 2025 we have received news that Bissell Pet Foundation has accepted RADD as a partner. This allows us to continue our mission to help neglected and abandoned dogs get a second chance at life!
Moonstone is a sweet, resilient soul who has endured more in her 2.5 years than most dogs should ever have to face. She spent much of her life living on the streets, scavenging for food and shelter while pregnant, unaware of where her next meal would come from or when she would feel safe again.
Eventually, Moonstone was picked up by animal control, where she was given a kennel and food—but the safety was short-lived. With space becoming scarce, the shelter made the painful decision to euthanize her. That's when Radd Dog Rescue stepped in to save her life.
Now, in the comfort of a loving foster home, Moonstone is learning what it means to be cared for. She still struggles with food aggression, a behavior born from her past struggles. After so long without regular meals, she’s understandably protective of her food. Additionally, she sometimes shows lunging and mouthing behavior—likely due to the trauma of never having had the chance to be a playful puppy.
But progress is being made. With patience and love, her foster family is helping her heal, and she is becoming the dog she was always meant to be. She will never go hungry or feel unsafe again.
Moonstone’s journey reminds us of the importance of giving a second chance to dogs who would otherwise be overlooked. She is proof that with the right support, every dog can find hope and healing, no matter their past.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home, Moonstone is waiting to meet you. With continued love and care, she’ll soon be ready to find her forever family.
