RADD’s story begins with a dog named Milo. At just 7 months old, Milo was found injured in the streets and taken to a high-kill shelter in San Antonio, where, like many dogs, he found himself on the euthanasia list after just a couple days. After seeing his pictures and reading about his story, our founder, Sarah Sierra, simply could not let him be put down. With just 30 minutes to spare before his euthanasia time, Sarah, with the help of Misfit Dogs, saved Milo’s life.
During the process of saving Milo, Sarah encountered Angela, Arynne, and Jayme. These three wonderful women also had passion for saving dogs and worked with Sarah to save Milo and many more dogs after she began volunteering for the Misfit Dogs.
While volunteering for The Misfit Dogs, they created and refined a long-distance rescue program and learned the ins and outs of running a rescue. So, when the Misfit Dogs decided to return to its roots as a farm sanctuary, Sarah, Angela, Arynne, and Jayme took charge of finding placement for the last of the Misfit Dogs. It was during this process that they decided that they wanted to continue rescuing dogs, but under their own rescue. So, in January of 2024, RADD Dog Rescue was born.
Since we have opened our proverbial doors, we have worked tirelessly to save dogs at risk of euthanasia and give them the second chance they deserve. Many people have resonated with this mission, and RADD has grown from a small team of four to a robust network of volunteers, adopters, and fosters without whom none of this would be possible.
