Mrs. Aponte
Beach Street Social Worker
Beach Street Social Worker
Hi everyone! This is Mrs. Aponte, your school social worker. Like some of you, I am new to Beach Street Middle School. The best part of my days have been getting to know many of you! For those of you who have not met me yet, here's a little bit about me...
I grew up locally, in Bay Shore. I graduated from Penn State University and received my master's in social work at Adelphi University. Some things that I love are spending time with my family and friends, being active, traveling, and going to the beach. I also love trying new things, this year I learned to play pickle-ball, which has been so fun!
I became a school social worker to help and support children in all the different areas of their lives. I know that middle school can be challenging at times, so please know that I am here for you and that your well-being is so important to me!
Mission
As your school social worker, my mission is to help create a positive and encouraging environment that promotes both academic and personal growth. By fostering social and emotional learning, my hope is for students to increase self-awareness, academic achievement, and positive behaviors in and out of the classroom. Through individual counseling, group counseling, and classroom instruction, students will be empowered to recognize their strengths, accomplish their goals and reach their highest potential.
Within the West Islip School District, social workers help students manage emotions, learn positive coping skills, boost self-esteem, and build healthy relationships. Social workers serve as the liaison between the student, school, and community and advocate for students in order to meet their unique needs.
Come in and say "hi"
