Here's what we've been up to...
Each year on P.S. I Love You Day, we take action to promote mental health awareness and decrease bullying. P.S. I Love You Day emphasizes the importance of choosing kindness and lifting each other up. To help spread the message, students and faculty answered questions and shared inspiring messages to Beach Street students. This year's theme was "One Step at a Time."
Thanks to the generosity of our community, Beach Street raised over $200 in change for children in families in need in Ukraine. Districtwide, West Islip raised over $1500.
Start With Hello Week is one of Sandy Hook Promise's programs to promote inclusivity and connectedness among students. Student's discussed the meaning behind the program and the simple, yet meaningful act of just saying "hello" to someone. This year, we kicked off the week by introducing spirit days and had activities throughout lunch periods. Students created a beautiful chain with positive messages that stretched across the cafeteria!
This year's outdoor pep rally was better than ever! We had amazing performances by our cheerleaders, celebrated our student athletes, and had various competitions. We even got to watch Mr. O'Farrell show off his cartwheel skills!
Exciting events coming up...
This May, BSMS will be kicking off it's 1st annual, "Wellness Day." The day will be organized by the school's health, physical education and counseling departments.
