As part of my major in Mechanical Engineering, I took take Global Engineering in Fall 2021. While taking this class, I gained exposure to other cultures and challenged myself to develop technological solution and global business collaboration through projects with students in Portugal.
Global Engineering is a three credits class taught by Dr. Zupan. Being that my involvement will be a span of a semester, my time commitment breaks down to fifteen hours weekly for ten weeks. This sums up to one hundred and fifty hours (150hrs).
I aspire to familiarize myself with other cultural norms to gain a higher understanding of my associates’ upbringings and experiences
I aim to communicate effectively to allow for constant flow to creativity and productivity
Perspectivism: Ways to enhance virtual reality demands being complimentary of different cultures and values. To create an experience that works for everyone, enhancing VR must be inclusive of resources that one may already be familiar with.
Working with Diverse Teams. Global Engineering takes me outside of my comfort zone by teaming up with engineering students from a different background.
Global Citizenship. Global engineering class gives me the opportunity to work engineering students from different background to design technological solutions
Cultural Awareness. Global engineering class gives me the opportunity to address social needs through hands on experience such as installing water filtration systems
Openness to Difference. Global engineering is a class inclusive of students of all walks of life. This class promotes diversity of mind and expertise to design technological solutions that meets demands of communities in need.
