Efficiency

You have just learned about wasted energy and useful energy, so you know now how wasted energy isn't helpful. Efficiency is the word to describe how much useful energy there is compared to wasted energy.

• Efficiency tells us how much wasted energy there is compared to useful energy
• It can be shown in a sankey diagram
• Input energy is how much energy is the total amount of energy being put in to do something
• Efficiency=useful output energy/total input energy
• An object can never be more than 100% efficient

Examples of Efficiency

• Energy in homes is supplied majorly by gas and oil
• Some energy is used by some is also wasted
• Most packaging of appliances state it's efficiency as a percentage. If it doesn't waste much energy, then it is efficient and you can get more out of it.
