Fiona is attentive and supportive and is committed to helping her students produce their best work. I always felt both encouraged and challenged as I worked to refine my analyses. Fiona consistently pushed me to be braver and bolder in my analysis, and her detailed, constructive feedback helped me build in confidence as an analyst and researcher.

Feedback from our Qual Academy workshops
Fiona and Elly were extremely knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. It was so helpful to have post- session materials with lots of references included. It was also helpful that it was step-by-step, there were no assumptions of how much previous knowledge you had.
Facilitator style was excellent, very empathic and clearly wanting to help novice researchers succeed.
Fiona and Elly provided helpful insights from their experiences, offered different perspectives, and created a comfortable learning environment.
The most useful parts of the workshop were the insights the facilitators shared of their experiences using IPA and their interaction about different ways to approach various attendees' questions/concerns. Seeing different ways people used IPA was helpful. The focus on the interview questions, and organization tips were excellent.
I enjoyed the hands-on activities that enabled me to work with actual data to further cement my understanding of the analysis process. I also learned alot from the other participants as we all had different backgrounds and thus different parts of the data stood out to us.
I found Fiona's examples of what she came across in different vivas very useful in terms of what to look out for and be aware of. I also found Elly's advice very helpful to help organise and structure the narrative and develop the interpretation. The questions posed and slides in general are also very valuable, together with the recommended reading.
