Women's History Month

March

Since 1911 every year on 8 March International Women's Day is celebrated around the world. First predominantly recognized by socialist and communist movement, it was adopted by the feminists in 1960s and in 1977 by the United Nations.

The 2021 UN theme for International Women's Day is "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world" highlighting the impact that women and girls worldwide had as health care workers, caregivers, innovators and community organizers, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. See more on UN Women website.

Our Book Display this month brings together a selection of print and digital material from our collection on Women's Rights movements.
