Welcome to Quantum Materials Lab !

It all started at IIT-Kanpur back in 2020 (COVID time). We explore emergent phenomena in novel quantum materials. First we grow high-quality single crystals or thin films/membranes and then control its physical properties externally (using various stimuli such as current, electric field, strain, chemical doping, temperature etc.). We also have keen interest in building advanced experimental setup for optically detecting properties of Quantum Materials.

The group specializes in the growth of epitaxial thin films using pulsed laser deposition (PLD), growth of Single crystals using Flux-growth and Floating-Zone technique. We investigate the tunability of the physical properties and find the correlations among structure-magnetism-transport. Currently we are working on development of free-standing membranes for oxide based devices, strain tuning of Anomalous Hall Effect and Magneto-optical Kerr Effect for future applications. Our primary goal is to control the physical properties externally (using current, electric field, strain, chemical doping, temperature etc.) to develop multifunctional quantum technologies.
