Queen's University is participating in the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (QES) program, which is funded by the Rideau Hall Foundation and Universities Canada. The program is entitled Transdisciplinary Knowledge Translation for Social Transformation: Building Climate Resilient Communities through Co-development" hosted this Summer at the Department of Design, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, under the supervision of Prof. Bibhuti Ranjan Bhattacharjya. This project builds on the success of the QES 2025 program, which was co-organized with the support of Queen's University faculty member, Prof. Qingguo Li, Professor and Associate Head, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.
Working with university supervisors, graduate students, and community groups, the students are undertaking a 60-day community-based climate resilience project in India to gain a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of rural communities, learn how to co-develop community transition initiatives, and convey solutions to garner support for implementation. Students will collaborate with NGOs for their local research projects.
