The QAM 2017 is now over and has been the chance for all of us to meet (in the pool and at the bar) to know each other better. This year, brilliant Lightning Talks have been given by :
- Shannon Abeling (UoA): Benchmarking the Resilience of Earthquake-prone URM Buildings
- Mujaddad Afzal (UoA): Assessing the Resilience of the Auckland Transportation Network
- Alistair Davies (UC): Increasing Resilience for Potentially Isolated Communities Through Distributed Infrastructure
- Kevin Foster (UC): A Vs30 Map for New Zealand
- Royce Liu (UC): Improving the Seismic Structural Redundancy of Low Damage Reinforced Concrete Bridge Piers
- Lisa McLaren (Massey): The Science Behind Extreme Citizen Science
- Rebecca McMahon (UoA): Nelson-Tasman Site Characterisation Study
- Andrew Sherson (Massey/GNS): The Impact of Local and Contextual Influences on Waterpipe Repair Times in Wellington
- Marion Tan (Massey): Usability of Disaster Apps
Among the very good talks that we heard, two were particularly outstanding: Marion's one was awarded with the Audience Award and Rebecca MacMahon won the Jury Award. Again, the three chapter presidents would like to thank every QuakeCoRE Emerging Researcher Chapter member for their participation to the QAM and Lightning Talk and invite them to the 2018 QAM, where more activities and fun will be planed. If you have any feedback to give, feel free to contact one of your representatives.
