In order to reach their different roles, the QuakeCoRE Emerging Researcher Chapters organize various social and outreach events, in which members are encourage to participate. The proposed activities are the following (but not limited to):
The QuakeCoRE Emerging Researcher Chapters aim to promote networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing between members of the earthquake resilience community including but not restricted to sociology, economics, and engineering fields. Furthermore, the Emerging Researcher Chapters intention to foster personal development of its members, and spread knowledge beyond the academic world through the organization of outreach activities in collaboration with the QuakeCoRE outreach coordinator. Finally, the Emerging Researcher Chapters will organize events for members in order to promote both internal and external sharing of research, and to encourage the members of the chapter to network.
To join our network, please contact the representative of your area (Auckland, Wellington or Canterbury). QERC is open to fourth year undergraduate students, post-graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and young professionals.
The different QuakeCoRE Emerging Researcher Chapters are financially supported by QuakeCoRE, a New Zealand Center of Research Excellence and receive in-kind support from the University of Auckland, the Massey University (Wellington), and the University of Canterbury (Christchurch) in form of facility use.
QuakeCoRE is transforming the earthquake resilience of communities and societies, through innovative world‐class research, human capability development, and deep national and international collaborations. We are a Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) funded by the New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission.
Our Flagship programmes address six areas of multi‐disciplinary research, interconnected to understand and improve how our communities recover and thrive after major earthquakes. Our Technology Platforms are advancing the underpinning infrastructure needed for our research, from lab and field experimentation to complex community datasets and high performance computing. Translation of our research outputs into policy and practice is achieved through active participation with our stakeholders and end users in our research programme and education of the next generation leaders in earthquake resilience.

The Auckland chapter hosts emerging researchers from Auckland Tertiary institutions such as the University of Auckland, AUT, and Massey University. The chapter has monthly meetings for researchers to share their current research and quarterly outreach events to share earthquake resilience with the community.

Wellington hosts multiple Tertiary Institutions such as Victoria University of Wellington and Massey University. We have a diverse range of students and emerging researchers studying varying aspects of earthquake and disaster resilience (architecture, design, economics, earth sciences, social sciences, etc.). Members of the chapter come from various disciplines and from different universities within Wellington.

The Canterbury chapter is the only QuakeCoRE chapter on the South Island. Most members come from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch where most of our events are organized but the chapter is open to post-graduate student, post-doc or young professional working in the field of earthquake engineering/resilience. Our current members come from various discipline such as Earth Science, Disaster management, Engineering or Economics.
