Anyone and everyone is welcome to join the mailing list - even if you don't consider yourself part of our community and just want to hear what we're up to!
Coming soon!
Our discord is a space for those within our community to reach out, support, and connect with each other. Whilst this space is primarily designed for the queer members of our community, allies are welcome please be aware you are in our house - irrespectively, we will never ask you to disclose your identity as part of our joining process either publicly or via DM. Anyone not behaving in accordance with our Code of Conduct will be removed from community platforms.
For the safety and comfort of the academic members of our network (for example: not outing themselves unintentionally to their teaching cohorts), we have restricted the Discord community to non-taught members (i.e. for those still in academia we mean PhD students and above).
A how to guide:
First things first, join using this link :https://discord.gg/PqkFeP9PGk
Then pass through our dual air-lock system:
As a new joiner you will need to wait for one of our lovely moderators to give you the 'new here' status.
After getting the 'new here' status you need to introduce yourself in the channel called 'air-lock' which will have just appeared.
Only those currently with the new here status will see the messages in this channel, and your message will be deleted once you are accepted as a member of the discord to try and ensure some security. However two people joining at the same time might be able to see eachothers messages.
After we know that you are a real person and coming to join with good intent we will give you access to our wonderful little corner of the internet!
This might sound overly complicated, but this is to ensure the safety and comfort of our community.
If you've never used discord before, the official support manual has a good beginners guide: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045138571-Beginner-s-Guide-to-Discord
