Welcome to ASAP! My name is Caitlyn Ferguson and I am the Financial Aid Specialist for ASAP. As an ASAP student, you will have financial aid responsibilities that you must begin to address. My role, as ASAP Financial Aid Specialist, is to help you through this process. To qualify for the ASAP Scholarship, you must be awarded at least $1 in financial aid from either Pell or TAP as well as address all financial aid responsibilities.
Apply for Financial Aid Each Academic Year: ASAP students must file a FAFSA and a New York State TAP application each academic year.
File your FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov and use QCC’s school code 002697.
File your TAP application at www.hesc.ny.gov and use QCC’s school code 1407.
If you are unable to apply for financial aid, please let your ASAP Advisor know and discuss payment options with the Bursar’s office. You can also look into the Jose Peralta DREAM Act at https://www.hesc.ny.gov/dream/. If you are approved through the Jose Peralta DREAM Act, you can apply for TAP!
Submit Required Financial Aid Documents Promptly: Respond to any requests for additional information from the Financial Aid office as well as New York State HESC.
Maintain Good Academic Standing: You must continue to meet financial aid satisfactory academic progress standards in order to remain eligible for federal and state financial aid.
Check your QCC Email Regularly: The Financial Aid office will send you missing information emails if additional information is required. Please make sure you respond promptly to any email request for information.
Check your CUNYFirst Account Frequently: Log into your CUNYFirst Student Center and utilize the “Tasks and Holds” tile, “Financial Aid” tile, and the “Financial Account” tile.
Address Residency Requirements If You Live Outside of New York City: You do not have to live in New York City to get the CUNY tuition rate offered by Queensborough! If you are a resident of New York State you could be eligible for the in-state tuition rates. If you reside in a county other than NYC or the five boroughs, you will need to order a certificate of residency from your county to submit to the Bursar’s office. If you reside in NYC or the five boroughs and are charged the non-resident rate, please contact the Bursar’s office at bursar@qcc.cuny.edu for more information on your next steps.
