What is Psychometric Testing?
Psychometric testing involves the use of scientifically validated instruments that aim to objectively measure psychological constructs. These tests provide information regarding cognitive abilities, personality dimensions, and symptom severity, all of which can be crucial in forming a mental health diagnosis. Psychometric testing is used to support your treatment.
We offer two types of psychometric testing at QCBHA:
Psychodiagnostic Assessments (Ages 12+): Testing that aims to clarify diagnostic impressions through measurement of symptom presence, severity and clinical impairment.
Psychoeducational Assessments (Ages 3-22): Testing to measure a student's cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning. These assessments can be used to determine if a student is eligible for special education services or accommodations.

FAQs
Will my insurance cover Psychometric Assessment?
Many private insurance plans do cover Psychodiagnostic Assessments. We highly recommend contacting the number located on the back of your insurance card to inquire about your coverage for psychological testing services prior to your appointment. We do not bill IL Medicaid/State/Medicare insurance plans at this time.
Psychoeducational Assessments are performed by Emily Grooms, a licensed School Psychologist. These services are not covered by health insurance plans, therefore we offer a Sliding Scale Fee to make testing more affordable. This rate is based on your annual household income, and will require documentation to be submitted. Please contact our Front Desk for additional information on our Sliding Scale Fees.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to get an assessment?
Typically, a referral is not required to schedule an appointment. If your insurance plan requires prior authorization before psychological testing services are covered, they may require a referral from your doctor. Please contact your insurance company to verify their requirements.
If you are a practitioner looking to make a referral please follow this link for our Patient Referral Form.
How much will my assessment cost me out of pocket?
There are many factors involved in determining an estimated cost for an assessment, which will be unique to each individual case. Our team can provide an estimated price range, however the final cost can vary based on your individual case, presenting symptoms, tests administered, and time involved.
