Python for Kids is a student-led program introducing beginners to coding through live online lessons, guided practice, and creative projects.
We have conducted four workshops in India and the United States, accounting for approximately 140 student participations. Three winter workshops were delivered with KRA school partners in India, and one served U.S. students in summer 2024. Each workshop included five to six sessions.
Shaadana and Sanah Rajesh created the full beginner curriculum, lesson slides, and coding activities. Nine student instructors have contributed across the program’s history.
Lessons combine demonstrations, coding exercises, and small-group support. Students practice Python through activities such as menus, quizzes, chatbots, and games, with resources available to revisit between classes.
Shaadana led the teaching team, mentored fellow instructors, and coordinated scheduling and additional review time. She also experimented with brief camera-on greetings, asking participants to turn on their cameras for a few seconds to say hello, with the aim of making online interactions more personal.
