The appointment began 3 months ago and I must say that it is truly a great honour to serve UMT with true pleasure. Glad to be invited as Distinguished Lecturer for YSEALI ACADEMY’S PUBLIC POLICY SEMINAR Regional Environment and Resilient Development organized by Fulbright University Vietnam on March 22, 2022. The talk title in this seminar is related to waste production in ASEAN countries, focusing on pollution, mitigation and valorisation.
There are 35 YSEALI fellows who are young professionals between the ages of 25-40, highly qualified and motivated, from all 10 ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste joined this seminar. The objective of this seminar include:
1) Expand YSEALI fellows’ knowledge and skills of topics related to environmental challenges and resilient development in Southeast Asia that can be applied in participants' careers.
2) Build a network with other Southeast Asian professionals for future collaboration in public affairs, including environment sector.

Appointment as judge for state level of the 2021 NSC
Glad to be appointed as one of the judges for the state level of the 2021 National Science Challenge (NSC). NSC has been organised by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) as one of the National’s premier science competition for secondary school students since 1999.
In 2020, NSC competition has been virtually organized and SMJK Jit Sin, Pulau Pinang has emerged as the Champion of the 2020 Virtual NSC. Due to the ongoing pandemic challenges, ASM is conducting the 2021 NSC virtually for the second consecutive years.

The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) has been organizing the National Science Challenge (NCS), one of the nation’s premier science competition for secondary school student since 1999 with the aim to nurture, promote and enhance the interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among the school students. In 2020, the NSC was organized virtually for the first time and has recorded a total of 1031 registered teams involving 3093 students from all over the country. The NSC competition has proven to play a significant role in cultivating the passion and interest in STI among secondary school students. Owing to the ongoing pandemic challenges, ASM is planning to organize the 2021 NSC virtually for the second consecutive year. Applied Energy Committee Member of UNiLAB : An International Academic Association for Promotion of International Collaboration Programme
UNiLAB is an international academic association known as the ‘virtual lab’ of collective intelligence in applied energy research. It is a strategic alliance aimed to promote international collaboration programme and inter-institution research-related activities on conversion of Energy and Biochar from Biomass/Solid Waste (EB2W), consisting of a group of experts in the field of Applied Energy from prestigious universities around the world such as South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Italy, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada.
Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Lam Su Shiung has been appointed as a committee member of Applied Energy UNiLAB. Dr. Lam, acting as the representative from Malaysia, has been recognized by the Executive Director and Board Members of UNiLAB for his innovative research in applied energy and waste conversion technologies. Through his research on transforming waste and biomass materials, Dr. Lam is paving the way for advancements in alternative energy and waste conversion. It is hoped that Dr. Lam’s appointment will contribute greatly to reducing waste and advancing the usage of sustainable energy in this world.
