Mu Alpha Theta is a national math honors society for high school and two-year college students who excel in mathematics. Currently, over 75,000 students and over 1,500 schools nationwide are involved in the honors society.
We aim to inspire a keen interest in mathematics, develop strong scholarship in the subject, and promote the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.
In preparation for the 2nd Quarter, please read through all the information below regarding Mu Alpha Theta Service/Participation.
Service/Participation
As a member of Mu Alpha Theta, you will be required to fulfill 1 hour of quarterly service/participation from the 1st quarter to the 3rd quarter of the school year. Please note that the deadline for fulfilling the required service this quarter is Friday, December 12, at 2:30 PM in S50.
Note: This due date is before the last day of the quarter, so please make sure to plan accordingly.
This quarter, you may choose from the options below to meet the quarterly requirement.
Math Team Competitions
Mu Alpha Theta members can participate in Math Team's math competitions, CAML and ASMA, to receive 30 minutes of credit per lunch time.
The competitions are on the following dates:
CAML - Tuesday, November 11 (Lunch)
ASMA - Thursday, November 13 (Lunch)
CAML - Tuesday, December 9 (Lunch)
ASMA - Thursday, December 11 (Lunch)
The competitions will be in S50 for non-math team members. Late arrivals will not be admitted, and early departees will not receive credit.
Note: All Mu Alpha Theta members also on Math Team will participate with the Math Team in S44. You must write “MAT” and your ID number in the top right corner to receive credit
Help a Math Teacher
The Service Verification Form is due by Friday, December 12, at 2:30 PM in S50. The form can be found here and also on the Service/Participation Page of the website. Be sure to fill it out and get it signed on the day of your service.
Reminder
It is your responsibility to check the Service/Participation Log to verify your hours. It is also your responsibility to check your email on a regular basis. You will be held accountable for all communication via the Service/Participation Log and via email.
