Based on the classic fairytale of "The Princess and the Pea", this bilingual version adds a special twist. It has catchy rhyming text and uses South American influences in both language and illustrations.
The prince has been hoping for a wife, but no woman is good enough for his mother's approval. When each maiden came by, the prince was hopeful, but Mom would test them with the old pebble under the "veinte" mattress(es) trick to she if she was a true princess.
One day a maiden came by and they prince knew she was the one regardless of what his mother thought. He was smitten with her, so he secretly added a pitch fork and stones under the mattresses to make her sleep unpleasant and thus pass his mother's test. They married, had "veinte" children (one for each mattress) and lived happily ever after. To this day, his mother never found out his secret.
