 Meet Ms. Johnson!

The Poplar Tree Band program transitioned to be under the direction of Ms. Emily Johnson starting in January 2022.

Ms. Johnson graduated summa cum laude from George Mason University with a Bachelor’s of Music in Instrumental Music Education. She has experience teaching beginning and intermediate band in grades 6-8 and teaching general music in grades K-5. This school year Ms. Johnson is teaching at Poplar Tree ES, Cub Run ES, and Greenbriar East ES.

Outside of Poplar Tree, Ms. Johnson enjoys teaching clarinet sectionals at local high and middle schools, working with local marching bands, and listening to music education podcasts.

In her personal time, Ms. Johnson likes to go indoor rock climbing, garden, quilt, crochet, and bake gluten-free treats.
