The PTA Reflections Art Competition judges are experts in their assigned arts field.
Judges assign points to each entry, based on three criteria:

Mid-Late October: Local School deadlines close
Nov 10: City competition closes // Chair - develops creates blind list and numbers entries & creates folders for judges and prepares emails.
Nov 22-26: A Google link and instructions will be sent to the city judges.
Deadline for PTAC Judges: Dec 5
Jan 17th - Council PTA winners due to Virginia PTA - Electronic submissions only
Feb. 20th: Virginia PTA winners announced
May. National PTA Winners announced
Judges are Recruited
The Reflections team recruits judges from the community with a background in their selected field.
Judges are Trained
Judges are sent a link to this website to learn about the process and rules. Any questions or concerns or needed accomodations may be directed to the chair
Judges Choose Winners
Judging will be electronic.
Judges will receive an email link. They will be given access to their category submissions. They will be numbered. They will enter their scores in the provided doc.
Judges Invited to Celebration
This year we are planning on a Zoom celebration showcasing the winners.
40 points
How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the Work itself and the artist statement.
30 points
How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the theme and its presentation.
30 points
The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.
The Reflections team will send you a link in an email and the deadline.

You will be directed to a Google Drive that looks like this.
Click on your category.
Judges will have a copy of the Judging Rubric & Instructions in your folder.
You will see a green icon called PTAC ___Scorecard.
You will see the level (Primary - Intermediate) and the entry #.
Please look at each entry and enter your scores in the green scorecard.
You will see the title, the artist statement and the area to provide scores and notes.
If you would like to provide notes, they will be included. It will be at the Committee's discretion if these notes are shared.
