PSU GIS Club

Welcome to the Portland State GIS Club!

We are the PSU Student Chapter of ASPRS

What we do:

The GIS Club is open to all PSU community members who are interested in GIS. Whether you are a geography student, taking a GIS class, or just like maps, we welcome you!

The GIS Club hosts events that are open to the public, and works to collaborate with other local GIS groups. Some examples of these events are socials, speaker series, workshops, and career panels.

The GIS Club is facilitating virtual GIS support through zoom homework help sessions and a community slack space. We are also incorporating some in-person events and encourage you to join us if you're interested! We would love to meet you.

Officer Recruitment for the 23/24 School Year

The PSU GIS Club is student-run and supported by campus and department staff. Several officers in the 22/23 school year are finishing their time at PSU and we need new officers to keep the club going strong, supporting students and creating opportunities for growth! If you are interested in getting more involved in any capacity with our club, please shoot us an email at GISClub@pdx.edu. Helping with the club is a great way to network, build your resume, and give back to the GIS community!

Excellent News!

Thanks to work from the 2023 Secretary and Outreach Officer, Robin, our Slack channel has been revamped and is better than ever! Check it out HERE!

The best way stay up-to-date on events is by joining our mailing list! Sign-up HERE

The GIS Club is a student chapter of ASPRS, which means it relies on ASPRS's ongoing support and funding to bring events and resources to the PSU community. While PSU GIS Club events do not require ASPRS membership and are open to all interested students, joining ASPRS has many benefits, such student scholarships.

Learn more on our ASPRS Membership page.

This fall, the GIS Club is putting together online resources to facilitate remote learning and community. Look at the Resources page for information on the new Slack workspace and Critical GIS story map.
