The 2025 U.S. government shutdown was the longest in history – it lasted 43 days, starting on October 1, 2025 and ending on November 12, 2025. The shutdown created a backlog of official economic data releases. After the reopening of the U.S. federal government, the statistical agencies are catching up and releasing the delayed data gradually. Additionally, a 4-day long government shutdown starting on January 31, 2026 and ending on February 3, 2026 delayed the release of a few economic reports published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Table below reports the original and new release dates of key U.S. economic data affected by the 2025 and 2026 government shutdowns. Delay of each data release is also reported. In case of data not published yet, the delay refers to the update date of this page. The most recent update was performed on February 5, 2026.
