A Country Home

A majestic maple tree and a pumpkin wagon, in front of the Worcester Farm house in Hollis, NH. I captured this image in October of 2015 -- my first foliage season to be explored with a camera. The maple in this photo is one of several on the property. In late winter, the maples are "decorated" with tin buckets as the trees are tapped for syrup.

Townsend Harbor Dam

Autumn Along the Waterfront - 1

The former mill town of Harrisville, NH, is now home to artisans and craftsmen. The stately brick buildings are relics of a bygone era, and draw photographers and painters from all over the northeast -- especially during autumn. I captured this image in October of 2022.

Piper Pines Farmhouse

I stopped to photograph this farmhouse in October of 2020 while driving to the Jewell Hill reservation in Ashburnham, MA. A sign over the barn read "Piper Pines Farm." However, to me the bright red maples were much more impressive than the pines on the farm. Having found this farm by accident, I will make a point of coming back to photograph it every fall and winter for many years to come.

A Friendly Wave

A cheerful person in a photo makes for a happier image, IMHO. While I was photographing this stretch of North Pepperell Road in Hollis, NH, I asked the first runner who came along to smile and wave to me. She was rather nasty and snarled, "No -- I don't want to be photographed!" However, this nice lady was happy to do so, even if it interrupted her running rythym. I captured this image in October of 2019.

House on Fire!

This beautiful home is on South Street in Ashby, MA. It's one of many elegant Victorian homes in the town. I noticed it while eating a sandwich in the parking lot of the Ashy Market, while my camera was sitting on the passenger seat. As a side note, whenever I drive through Ashby, I remark to myself about the contrast between the beauty of homes in the town, and the third world quality of the roads!

Twilight Time at the Old Cooperage

The Old Mill and Cooperage in Townsend Harbor produces wonderful photo opportunities year round. Like most New England photo subjects, the Old Cooperage is prettiest in the fall and winter. The bridge from which I shot this photo faces due west. Hence it's perfectly positioned for taking sunset photos. In this image, the late afternoon sun illuminates the October foliage along the banks of Harbor Pond. (October, 2022)

Richardson Road

This unpaved road in Hollis, NH, is lined with maples and stone walls; hence it is a magnet for photographers. I captured this image in October of 2020 -- during a year when the fall foliage was much nicer than it had been for the previous few years.

Fall colors reflect on the surface of Norway Pond, which is in the center of pretty Hancock, NH. I've been told that the home on the left is owned by a local artist. If so, then she is situated in one of the lovliest places in southern NH, IMHO. I captured this image in October of 2020.

Stillman Farm

I can't overstate how much I appreciate the fall colors at Stillman Farm, and especially the reflections of the swamp maples on Massapoag Pond. This image is from October, 2017.
