The first day with EDC10 is mostly administrative. You search saily.com or the Saily app for your destination country or region, pick a plan card with the data allowance and validity you want, then sign in or create an account using email, Google or Apple. No code field appears at the sign-in stage, so nothing is lost by moving past it.
The code goes in on the checkout page. Beside the order summary there is a collapsed 'Got a coupon?' link; tap it to expand the input, type EDC10 with no stray spaces and press Apply. Before choosing a payment method, check that the order summary total has fallen by 10%. This matters because the discount is not retroactive once payment is completed. Pay by card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay on supported devices, then install the eSIM profile through the in-app prompts or the QR code sent by email. On iPhone the manual path is Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM; on Android it is Network and internet > SIMs > Add eSIM. The phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked, and most iPhones from the XS onward qualify; Saily lists supported devices on its site.
Buying early does not waste the plan. Plans include a 180-day activation period, and validity generally begins when the eSIM connects to a network at the destination rather than at purchase. That gives a long window between paying with the coupon and actually using the data. The one caveat is that unactivated plans auto-activate when that 180-day period expires, so a plan bought far ahead of a long-postponed trip can start counting down on its own.
During this gap the profile stays tied to your account, which means it can be reinstalled after a phone change or a factory reset without repurchasing.
Once you land and the eSIM connects, the validity window runs in days as stated on the plan you bought. Saily plans are data-only in most cases, so your home SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts. Coverage depends on Saily's local network partners in each destination; in Japan, for example, plans connect to local partner networks for 4G/LTE and 5G.
Every plan includes the ad blocker at no additional cost, along with web protection against malicious sites and trackers, and the app's virtual location tool with more than 115 options. If a plan is named 'UNLIMITED', it provides a fixed amount of high-speed data per day and then throttles. Saily Ultra works similarly at subscription scale: 30 GB of high-speed data monthly, then unlimited at up to 1 Mbps.
A useful detail for multi-country trips is that the app allows switching between country plans without installing a new eSIM profile.
If the data runs out, a top-up bought later counts as a separate transaction, so the code has to be entered again on that checkout. Only one coupon applies per transaction, and codes do not stack with other coupons or, generally, with other active promotions and seasonal campaigns. The percentage discount typically applies to the plan price rather than taxes or local fees, so the total reduction on the bill may look slightly smaller than 10% of the headline figure.
Referral credits are a separate stream: US$5.00 in Saily credits per successful referral, sitting in your account balance rather than behaving like a coupon.
Sources disagree on whether EDC10 is limited to one use per account or can be reused on later trips, so treat a second use as something to test at checkout rather than assume. They also disagree on whether data roaming must be enabled for the Saily line. It is not stated whether the discount is honoured on Saily Ultra subscription renewals, whether any minimum spend or plan-tier eligibility applies, or whether specific promotional or bundled products are excluded. For context on pricing, Japan starts at US$3.99 for 1 GB, regional plans such as Asia and Oceania start at around US$4.99, a 20 GB 30-day plan is $24.99 and a 25 GB 60-day plan is $48.99, all billed in US dollars.
