Most failed redemptions are not failures at all — the code was typed in the wrong place. Saily has no coupon field on the sign-in or account creation step, so if you are entering an email address, choosing Google or Apple sign-in, or picking a plan card, there is nowhere for the code to go yet.
The field lives on the checkout or payment screen, behind a collapsed link labelled 'Got a coupon?' beside the order summary. Tap that link to expand the input, then enter EDC10 and press Apply. Do this before you select a payment method, not after. If you have already chosen Apple Pay or Google Pay and jumped into the payment sheet, back out to the order summary and look for the link again.
If the field is visible but the code is rejected, work through these in order:
Retype the code manually rather than pasting. Copied text often carries a trailing space, and the code must be entered exactly as written with no stray spaces.
Check for autocorrect or auto-capitalisation altering the characters on a mobile keyboard.
Confirm you pressed Apply. Typing the code and going straight to payment leaves it unapplied.
Look at the order summary total afterwards. The discount is only genuinely applied once the total has dropped by 10%.
Saily allows one coupon per transaction, and codes do not stack with other coupons. They also generally do not stack with other active promotions or seasonal campaigns. If a sale price or campaign discount is already sitting on your order, the coupon field may refuse a second one. Remove any other coupon you have applied and try again, or compare the two prices and keep whichever is lower.
Referral credits are a separate matter. Those US$5.00 credits sit in your account balance and are not coupons, so they should not be the reason a code is refused — but they also will not help you diagnose a coupon error.
A percentage discount typically applies to the plan price, not to taxes or local fees. On a cheap plan the cash saving is small in absolute terms: 10% off a US$3.99 Japan 1 GB plan is a matter of cents, while 10% off the $48.99 25 GB plan is more visible. Prices are billed in US dollars, so if you are comparing against a converted figure in your own currency the arithmetic may look off even when the code worked. Check the dollar figure in the order summary rather than your bank's estimate.
The discount is not retroactive once payment is completed. There is no way to reapply it to a finished order, so the practical move is to apply it on your next transaction. Top-ups bought later count as separate transactions and require the code to be entered again through the same 'Got a coupon?' link.
Some details around EDC10 are not settled, and it is worth knowing which failures may not be your fault:
Reuse: one source describes codes as limited to one use per account, another says the code can be used again on later trips. If it worked once and now will not, this may be the reason.
Saily Ultra: whether the discount is honoured on subscription renewals is not stated.
Eligibility: whether any minimum spend or plan-tier requirement applies is not stated, and nor is whether specific promotional or bundled products are excluded.
Because these are unconfirmed, treat a rejection on a renewal, a repeat purchase or an unusual product as plausible rather than a bug, and check the current terms on saily.com.
If the discount applied and payment went through but the eSIM is not usable, that is an installation issue, not a coupon one. Install the profile through the in-app prompts or the emailed QR code — on iPhone via Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM, on Android via Network and internet > SIMs > Add eSIM. The phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked; most iPhones from XS onward qualify, and Saily lists supported devices on its site. Sources disagree on whether data roaming must be enabled for the Saily line, so test that setting if the connection does not come up.
