Aperitivo Letterario 2024
The events of the Pro Loco di Quartu's summer calendar continue with a cultural initiative that will satisfy both the mind, with the presentation of Italo Siddu's work, and the body, with an aperitif at the end of the event.
The Literary Aperitif meeting is dedicated to the presentation of the book "Sardi per le vie e le piazze di Quartu Sant'Elena", whose title speaks for itself. The event will also feature the presence of municipal institutions, cultural figures, and the graceful harp of Chiara Vittone.

Also returning this year are the two events that in their first editions were widely appreciated by everyone who experienced them live and also through Sardegna Live: Dì de Festa and Sagra del Maialetto. In this version, however, the two events will be combined together in the same period to make sure nothing is missing: the tradition of the Campidanese festival with traditional costumes and the tasting of the typical meat dish of our region, the Sardinian suckling pig.
You can't miss it! Everyone in the square on June 30th at Piazza Sant'Elena.

The Folk Group of Pro Loco di Quartu participated in the procession through the streets of Sinnai on Saturday, May 11, 2024, leading the float of Saint Isidore along with other folk groups present for the evening.

As every year, also this one, the Pro Loco made itself available for the important cultural event of "Monumenti Aperti", during which the group of the association was present to the sites of the Church of San Pietro di Ponte in the cemetery of Quartu and the precious semi-submerged Roman villa of Sant'Andrea near the Parco Parodi.

Our History
Our History
The Pro Loco Quartu Sant'Elena was founded on December 29, 1966. As writed in Article 1 of its Statute: "It is a voluntary association of a private nature, non-partisan, non-profit but with public relevance and aims at promoting social, tourism, and enhancing the enjoyment of the territory's tourism, naturalistic, cultural, artistic, historical, social, and gastronomic realities and potential, in order to promote social growth."
Since its foundation, the association has been dedicated to enhancing the territory of Quartu and its culture through events and initiatives that involve the local community and local authorities, creating a collaborative moment for all Quartu citizens. One of the events that has evolved over the past 25 years is the "Sagra del Pane" (Festival of Bread), the historical-artistic calendar - now in its 26th edition - which collects photos related to the city's culture, the "Quartese dell'anno" (Quartu Citizen of the Year) award, now in its 24th edition, which recognizes a citizen who has distinguished themselves through activities benefiting the community or bringing prestige to the city of Quartu. Other activities include various Christmas events and the "Carnevale Quartese" (Quartu Carnival), which has always attracted hundreds of people.
Furthermore, the association's folk group actively participates in numerous cultural events such as religious and civil processions, inaugurations, and presentations, wearing splendid traditional costumes meticulously reconstructed after careful historical and stylistic research. In recent years, the group has participated in events in various regional locations, including "Bestiris e Prendas" in Isili, the "Matrimonio selargino" in Selargius, processions in honor of Sant'Elena Imperatrice and Santa Maria di Cepola in Quartu, Sant'Efisio in Cagliari and Pula, and Sant'Isidoro in Sinnai.
Today, the Pro Loco continues its activities by organizing new editions of its "classic" events and introducing new ones, such as the first edition of the "Sagra del Maialetto" (Festival of Suckling Pig) and the first embroidery course. The association also participates in nationally significant events such as "Monumenti Aperti" (Open Monuments).
One of the Pro Loco's recent initiatives is the publication of this website, which serves as its digital headquarters, aiming to reach an increasingly broad and inclusive audience. In the future, more activities will be proposed for anyone who wants to participate.
