This November, our HOSA Mental Health Promotion project launched a month-long initiative to raise awareness about anxiety and mental health through informative posts, events, and interactive activities. We created social media accounts and conducted a research study to optimize our outreach. Throughout the month, we shared educational posts covering key topics such as "What is Anxiety?" (Nov 12), "How Common is Anxiety?" (Nov 13), and "Anxiety vs. Anxiety Disorders" (Nov 21) to educate our audience. Beyond social media, we organized impactful events, including consultations with mental health professionals (Nov 14 & 27) and a blanket-making event for local hospitals (Nov 16) to support those in need. To further spread awareness, we released our first supportive TikTok post (Nov 15) and podcast episode (Nov 17), expanding our reach through different media platforms. Encouraging positivity, we created a "Pose with a Positive Message" TikTok (Nov 23) and wrapped up the month with a Thanksgiving gratitude post (Nov 28) and an engaging Trivia Thursday (Nov 30). This inclusive approach allowed us to effectively promote mental health awareness, engage our community, and foster open conversations about anxiety.
Building on our efforts in November, we focused on providing anxiety management strategies through educational content, interactive engagement, and professional guidance. We started the month by addressing misconceptions about anxiety (Dec 6) and sharing stress-relief techniques (Dec 7). As finals approached, we posted tips on managing anxiety during exams (Dec 10) and identifying anxiety triggers (Dec 15) to support students during a stressful time. Thoughtful Tuesday and Wellness Wednesday posts encouraged mindfulness and self-care, while Trivia Thursdays engaged our audience with facts about anxiety, sleep, and protective factors. We promoted meetings with mental health consultants (Dec 21 & 28) and highlighted local library resources to encourage further learning. A significant highlight of the month was our Instagram post on social anxiety (Dec 22), helping our audience understand common triggers. Additionally, we organized a book donation drive to provide accessible mental health resources. Through this comprehensive strategy, we continued to empower individuals with knowledge, support, and practical tools to manage anxiety effectively.
January continued our momentum by combining mental health awareness with hands-on community service. We maintained our structured weekly themes—Motivational Monday, Thoughtful Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Trivia Thursday, and Fun Fact Friday—to keep engagement high. The month began with creating hospital positivity boards (Jan 1) and making blankets for local hospitals (Jan 2) to provide comfort. We collaborated with mental health professionals, organizing consultations on distress risk factors and anxiety (Jan 8, 15, & 30). Expanding outreach, we hosted school awareness events (Jan 12 & 22), educating students and providing resources. Social media remained vital, featuring our first TikTok wellness tip (Jan 6), an inspiring quote (Jan 7), and our second podcast episode (Jan 14). We promoted self-care through posts on healthy eating for mental health (Jan 27) and academic wellness strategies (Jan 28). Community service remained central, with multiple Feed My Starving Children events (Jan 3, 23, & 31) addressing food insecurity. A highlight was collaborating with local libraries and school clubs (Jan 19 & 25) to develop lasting mental health initiatives. Wrapping up the month, we met with SAXONZO (Jan 30) to discuss future collaborations. Through education, service, and advocacy, January reinforced our mission to promote mental well-being and lasting change.
In February, we continued our mission to promote mental health awareness through education, service, and community engagement. We hosted a mental health presentation at the Mental Health Club (Feb 3) and collaborated with local middle schools (Feb 7) to expand outreach efforts. Our social media initiatives featured informative posts on risk factors for anxiety (Feb 5), mindful eating (Feb 16), and coping mechanisms for anxiety (Feb 14), alongside engaging Fun Fact Fridays (Feb 9, 16, & 24). We reinforced self-care practices through our 5th Day Calendar Journal (Feb 26) and Positive Diary Posts (Feb 11), encouraging mindfulness and gratitude. Hands-on service remained a priority with multiple Feed My Starving Children events (Feb 12 & 25), supporting food-insecure communities. A key highlight was our wellness sessions with the Mental Health Club (Feb 15 & 22), where we facilitated discussions on stress management and mindfulness. Through a blend of education, digital engagement, and community service, February strengthened our commitment to fostering mental well-being and setting the foundation for future initiatives.
In March, we advanced our mental health awareness efforts with the launch of our Calendar Day initiative in partnership with the MRC Group (Mar 1) and shared insights on anxiety research through a podcast and social media updates (Mar 2-3). The first week focused on self-care, including aromatherapy, journaling, and workload balance (Mar 4-6). We met with a mental health consultant to discuss hydration’s role in anxiety management (Mar 7). Community service remained a priority with a Feed My Starving Children event (Mar 8), while Mindful Mondays highlighted stress relief and phone usage management (Mar 9, 16, 30). Thoughtful Tuesdays introduced coping strategies like aromatherapy and self-reflection (Mar 12, 19, 26), and Wellness Wednesdays promoted habits for focus and confidence. Trivia Thursdays and Fun Fact Fridays explored topics like greenery’s impact on stress (Mar 13), herbal tea benefits (Mar 20), and separation anxiety (Mar 27). We also encouraged self-care with Calendar Days dedicated to reducing screen time, decluttering, and gratitude (Mar 14, 21, 28). A major highlight will be our fundraising event with NAMI and Skyzone (Mar 15) to support mental health initiatives. Closing the month, we plan to meet with another mental health consultant (Mar 29) and reinforce relaxation techniques to keep our audience engaged and supported.
