The Experiential Landscape of a Menstrual Cycle
Doživljajska pokrajina menstrualnega cikla
The menstrual cycle is not just a monthly guest who overstays their welcome!
We invite you to participate in the research The Experiential Landscape of a Menstrual Cycle!
Explore your cycle in more detail while contributing to the field of women's health research. Participate in a one-month sampling of your experiences through a mobile app. Collect data on your mood, the composition of your experiential states, and your life context. Don’t worry. We will explain everything and demonstrate the research process.
Barbi and Maruša, curious researchers, fascinated by the diversity of experiential landscapes. We want to better understand the changes of the experiential landscapes throughout the menstrual cycle. In short, are we really more irritable when we have our period?
We are conducting this research under the eye of the Center for Cognitice Science at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana. We are deeply grateful for the support and assistance of the small group of researchers that we are also working with.
What will we be doing?
We will be researching experience throughout the menstrual cycle. What’s going on with you, how do you feel, what are you thinking, and are there any patterns if we look at all this through the lens of the different phases of the cycle? In short, we’re going to turn your cycle into science!

The Luna project explores the experience of the menstrual cycle using the Experience Sampling Method (ESM). The project includes co-researchers who record their momentary experiences and daily reflections through a mobile app. The goal is to better understand the dynamics of experiences throughout the cycle, deepen self-awareness, and advocate for supportive environments and inclusive policies.
