The Old Glory Honor Flight had an amazing reception for a group of veterans. Check out what this amazing organizations does as well as an interview below!
Old Glory Honor Flight has been a part of our community since 2009. There has been over 40 trips and over 3,500 veterans have been taken to see memorials built in their memory. When we went to the celebration of the veterans coming home from Vietnam, we were immediately shocked. The veterans would not be returning until 6 o'clock, and at 4:10 the parking lot at Menasha High School was full. We had an amazing interview with Steve Trinkner and I had an amazing conversation with the wife of a veteran on the trip. She was telling us about how veterans are chosen to go on these trips and some of the emotions she felt while he was gone. Veterans are chosen by random using a computer algorithm to go on the trips. About 500 people applied to go on the trip to Vietnam. You can sign up to go on a trip at their website, http://www.oldgloryhonorflight.org/. While her husband was gone, she told us how many emotions she went through. She said she missed him very much, as is to be expected, and that she was worried. She knew it would be an incredibly stressful experience for him, and that in turn made her stressed. She told us how much she used the facebook page for Old Glory Honor Flight (https://www.facebook.com/OldGloryHonorFlight/) to keep in touch and know where they were. She also mentioned to us that WBAY did an amazing job covering this trip. If you are interested in learning even more about the trip, you should check out their videos. If you would like to contact Old Glory Honor Flight you can do that on their website. Thank you veterans!
