The Governance Transparency Award is in recognition of any soccer organization (governing body, league or club) that posts online for public view:
Governing documents
Member, special and annual general meeting minutes.
This game is still largely driven by volunteers at not-for-profit organizations and at the governing and administrative levels, it will always remain such. However, recruiting these volunteers has and continues to be an ongoing challenge made even more difficult by the secrecy that runs rampant in soccer. Few people want to volunteer for an organization they know very little about. Evidently, recent player registration history shows many don’t want to play in or for them as well.
Public governing documents and meeting minutes allow the soccer community a view into an organization; a better understanding of for whom and how they serve. At the end of the day, we're all service providers; the CSA, MA’s, associations, leagues and clubs. Players and volunteers are our customers and the lifeblood of this game. We all have a right to make informed decisions based on openness and transparency. When we do, we hold the soccer community accountable and when the soccer community is held accountable, the quality of service improves and we #growthegame.
