After a year of the intentionally worse visuals, we will announce a lengthy couple month long refurbishment. Allowing rumors to spread of replacements and enhancements, but publicly state that this is nothing but average maintenance with the only real change is that we will be removing the 3D effects.Â
Even though the 3D has delighted guests since the ride opened in 2018, we wish to make the ride more accommodating to guests who suffer from motion sickness.
Universal has had many recent controversies with their ride vehicle designs and how inaccessible they can be. The removal of 3D in Supercharged will be one part of a resort wide movement to update ride vehicles to be more inclusive and less outright painful to guests above 6 feet tall or over 225 pounds.
While the ride vehicle redesigns are needed and this is a good thing that will benefit guests, it is also an effective smokescreen to cover up the changes to Supercharged.
What guests will not be told is that this refurbishment will be used as an opportunity to remaster the visuals entirely
Not only will this involve fixing the problems intentionally added in 2024, but going further to smooth out the perspective issues and updating the graphics. Nothing major. We aren't rebuilding it from the ground up. Just a solid remaster of the original version.
To guests, it will seem like the removal of 3D and some new projector bulbs are what really improved how it looked. Very observant guests might notice actual changes, but the goal is to keep the changes subtle enough that very few can ever precisely tell what was tweaked.
"It's just because we removed 3D. That's the only difference. The visuals always looked this good, it was just a bit tough to tell wearing 3D glasses. If you think the visuals weren't good then you're probably just saying that to get attention."
Never acknowledge that the most significant change was that we fixed the problems that we intentionally added in 2024. Again, the truth does not matter. All that matters is that it used to look bad, now it looks better.
