WOMEN OF COLOR ARE IGNORED OR DISREGARDED WHEN THEY COMMUNICATE THEIR PAIN AT A HIGHER RATE

“When I was 13, I had a large ovarian cyst that ruptured (didn't know I had it until it ruptured), the doctors automatically assumed I was pregnant and just didn't tell my parents. My parents were very angry, and the doctor's response was, ‘all black girls get pregnant early and don’t tell anyone until they get sick and are almost dying from a miscarriage or a bad abortion’.”
