Project H.E.ART (Health Equity in ART) is an initiative to share the experiences of people of color in the Rockaways regarding Health Stereotyping.
Health Stereotyping is known as an unconscious assumption based on a person's appearance, medical history, or social identity made by medical professionals that can lead to misdiagnosis.
Our team created a series of questions and interviewed 30+ community members on their experiences. Using this data, artwork was created by our team to represent these experiences. The quotes that served as inspiration are placed in the following page.
We hope these artworks help raise awareness on these unconscious biases and the effect on the treatment of people of color and minorities.
This project is a Senior Capstone Project created with the support and collaboration of New Visions Charter High School for the Humanities IV, located in Rockaway Park, Queens.
