In an international multicenter randomized clinical pilot trial, intraoperative FCV will be compared with pressure–controlled ventilation in patients scheduled for robot–assisted laparoscopic surgery.
This pilot trial is designed to test the safety and feasibility of FCV, and to inform the design of the PROFLOW-ROBOTic main trial.
The pilot study has been registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06703814) and the protocol paper has been published in Revista Espanola de Anestesiologia y Reanimacion 2026, doi:10.1016/J.REDAR.2026.502209

This trial is designed to investigate the impact of FCV on the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications in patients undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic surgeries.
