Princevault reports a 7:13 video edit, however I am incapable of knowing if this is from the movie or a longer edit of the normal promo video, and whether the audio track is different from any other known version. More info needed.
Possible Purple Rain alternate video edits
It's possible there are up to four different Purple Rain promo videos besides the movie scene itself. MTV Europe used to play one with the spoken intro in the early 90's, while the version on the Purple Rain 2004 anniversary edition doesn't have the spoken intro. A source also reported the existence of two other edits without the intro: one that would have been aired on Dutch TV and another one on MTV. The former had more sound effects from the film while the latter had slight differences with the DVD version (different fade-in and mix on the guitar solo). I'm also uncertain whether the version in the film itself is the exact same mix as the "music video" version added to the 2004 DVD. Until I have proper evidence that all those versions exist, I'll only include the version from the film on the list. More info needed.
