Primero's infrastructure can tell us a lot about how programmes are using the application.
Log data is data that machines generate. *It is not data that individual users enter into a system*
Log data is BIG DATA. If you know what to look for, it can be very useful.
Log data can give us insights about lots of things:
about how users are using a system, without exposing any personal / client data
the behavior of the system, when it is up, down, fast or slow
Machine performance and patterns, including anything out of the ordinary (good for security!)
See a good article here: https://www.splunk.com/en_us/blog/learn/log-analytics.html
The Iraq CPIMS+ Team showed that a lot of work goes into preparing data for visualization, but once you have a good template and process, updating your visualizations is pretty easy.
The Iraq CPIMS+ dashboard aggregates data from various data types and provides great flexibility for visualizing data, seeing relationships, and "slicing and dicing"
We are (gradually) moving more of Primero's search and reporting functionality to PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL is a database that will give Primero new capabilities, including better date and trend reporting.
