To allow Community Moderators to completely understand what they are moderating and why, here is a list of Definitions and Discord’s policies for these definitions. Moderators are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of these definitions and Discord’s policies. Harassment
Harassment is behavior intended to cause a person alarm or distress. The behavior must occur on more than one occasion but it does not have to be the same kind of behavior on each occasion.
Toxicity
The act of constant criticism, manipulation, gaslighting and antagonization, with the aims to irritate, anger or annoy other users. People who are toxic bring conflict and negativity. To servers and environments.
Hate Speech
Abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds (Protected Characteristics).
Violent Extremism
The term violent extremist organization describes groups that promote a political, ideological, or religious agenda and tolerate, advocate for, or use violence to achieve their goals.
Teen and Child Safety
Content sexualizing children or teens, through messages, images or gifs
Suggestive Messages
Suggestive messages are messages that are sent to hint or imply something, usually NSFW/NSFL. These messages often carry undertones or insinuations rather than explicitly stating something, usually used to avoid punishment.
NSFW/Inappropriate Content
“Not safe for work” content typically refers to content that is inappropriate or unsuitable for viewing in a work or professional setting. NSFW includes explicit language, graphic images or adult themes.
Suggestive Messages
“Not safe for life” content typically refers to extremely graphic or disturbing content that could be psychologically damaging or upsetting. NSFL includes scenes of extreme violence, gore or other distressing material.
