MOTIVATION

Machine learning models have produced a significant impact in our hability to analize, detect, monitor, simulate and understand the complexity associated with geophysical fluid dynamics. These techniques are leveraging the data deluge from the last decades provided by high resolution numerical simulations and remote and in-situ observing networks. This workshop aims to discuss the latest advances in the application of machine learning techniques in different aspects related to geophysical fluids and to strength collaborations among researchers (particularly early career ones) applying or willing to apply machine learning techniques in this challenging context.

The meeting is organised in the framework of the PREVENIR project (prevenir.smn.gob.ar) which involves scientific-technical institutions from Argentina and Japan in an interdisciplinary effort for the development of flash flood early warning systems. The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japanese Science and Technology Agency (JST).
