Objective: to expand current hydro-meteorological monitoring capabilities over the target basin and integrate different observation sources.

Multi-sensor Quantitative Precipitation Estimates and nowcasting
Objective: to develop and test novel techniques for the quantitative estimation of precipitation based on different information sources. It will also focus on the short range forecasting of precipitation based on extrapolation techniques.

Big data assimilation and numerical weather prediction system
Objective: to focus on the development and implementation of novel data assimilation and ensemble based numerical weather prediction approaches to provide accurate short range precipitation forecasts over the target basins.

Hydrological forecasting system
Objective: to develop and evaluate novel hydrological forecasting approaches including a quantification of the forecast uncertainty over the target basins.

Data and Warning dissemination system
Objective: to focus on the development of a web-portal and cell-phone app to efficiently communicate forecasts and warnings to emergency managers, decision makers and the general public.

Working with vulnerable communities
Objective: to conduct activities with different actors such as schools, social organizations to increase the awareness of the population regarding flash floods with particular emphasis on the most exposed people.
