Please check here weekly and help keep your students accountable as they accomplish assigned tasks.

Weekly Calendar and Class Activities:

Week 12 - November 4 -  Chapters 8/9 review questions and Chapter 11 vocab are assigned. We will go over Chapter 9, then start discussion on Chapter 11 on "Classifying Life". We will have a Chapter 9 quiz  Lab 11A will be done in class.  Please note we are skipping Chapter 10 for now. Lab 8B is long and will be done as a group lab. Due to schedule constraints, students will take the combined Chapter 8/9 test at home after this week's class. Your help in proctoring the test for your student will be much appreciated! 

Looking ahead, rough drafts of research paper are due on November 18. Documents that give guidelines on writing rough drafts will be posted on Google Classroom.

Week 11 - October 28 - Chapter 8 quiz. We will finish discussion of Chapter 8. Lab 8A is due. Outlines for the biotech research paper are due. 

Week 10 - October 21 - We start our study of heredity this week. Lab 7B worksheet is due. Vocab list and selected SRQs are assigned. There will be a quiz on Chapter 8 vocabs.

Week 9 - October 14 - We will begin by setting up our Lab 7B. Finish discussion of chapter 7 and take  Chapter 7 test towards the end of the period. 

Week 8 - October 7 - Ch. 7 vocab is assigned, to be uploaded the night before class. Quiz on Chapter 7 vocab terms. Strawberry DNA Lab is due (if not turned in last week). Sources for research paper are due.

Week 7 - September 30 - Test on Chapter 6. CRQs assigned and due the night before class. Lab 5B worksheets due. Strawberry DNA extraction lab worksheet may be turned in the following week. Many students have picked out topics for the paper but a few have not. Please check and make sure your student has an approved topic. He/she cannot proceed to the next step until this is done.

Week 6 - September 23 - Vocab and section review questions for Chapter 6 are assigned (upload these on Google classroom the night before class).  Lab 5A is due in class. Quiz on Chapter 6 vocab. Biotechnology research paper topic has to be approved by this Wednesday. 

Week 5 - September 16 - Students will take their Chapter 5 test. CRQs are assigned. Flexible deadline for Lab 5A: may be submitted this week or the following week (Sept. 23).  Looking ahead, biotechnology topics for their paper should be approved by September 23.

Week 4 - September 9 - Read Chapter 5 and Lab 5A. Submit vocab list on Google classroom (work due at 10:00 p.m. the night before class).  Students will take quiz on Chapter 5 vocab. Lab 2B worksheets (completed part 1 only) to be submitted in class.

Week 3 - September 2 - Students will take their first test on Chapter 2. No vocab list due but assignment is to answer chapter 2 review questions #1-30 and submit in Google classroom (work due at 10:00 p.m. the night before class). This should help them prepare for the test. Lab 1B is due in class. We will perform Lab 2B and finish our discussion of Chapter 2 prior to the test. (Looking ahead we will study Chapter 5 on Cytology next. We will skip Chapters 3 & 4 until the spring of next year).

Week 2 - August 26 -  Submit Chapter 2 vocab list and selected section review questions on Google classroom (work due at 10 p.m. the night before class).  Lab 1A due in class. We will perform Lab 1B and part of Lab 2B in class; take quiz on Chapter 2 vocab. Looking ahead, Chapter 2 test will be taken the following week.

Week 1 - August  19 - First day of class; additional intros, read Chapter 1 and Lab 1A & 1B at home prior to class. Submit Vocab list on Google classroom (due at 10 p.m. the night before class) and bring hard copy to class. Bring Lab Manual. Take quiz on Chapter 1 vocab. Perform Labs 1A & 1B.
