Class of 2027
Major: Biology & Anthropology: Global Health and Environment
Maya Ringold is a junior studying Biology and Global Health. Her academic interests center on cancer biology, immunology, and the intersection of research and clinical medicine. As a Pre-Health Peer Advisor, she looks forward to connecting with other students to talk about exploring research opportunities, navigating stress from heavy coursework, and choosing courses that support their academic and professional goals.
Maya has conducted cancer biology research at Washington University and has also contributed to projects with the Immune Health Project and the Breast Cancer Translational Research Group both at the University of Pennsylvania. She has also taken the Phage Hunters Ampersand program and completed physician shadowing hours that have further strengthened her commitment to a career in medicine. Through these experiences, she has developed a strong interest in understanding disease at the molecular level and translating scientific discoveries into improved patient care. She hopes to pursue an MD-PhD in the future and ultimately become an oncologist, combining clinical care with research focused on improving cancer treatment and outcomes.
Beyond the lab and classroom, Maya is actively involved in several campus and community organizations. She serves as a Peer Health Educator, volunteers with Project Smile and Bear Cubs Running, is involved in her sorority, and also works at the recreation center pool as a lifeguard.
