Ostia Fest 2023

This event brings together scientists, archeologists, art historians, and conservators working to study the wall paintings at Ostia Antica and Villa Adriana to gain insight into the materials and techniques used and their evolution with time, focusing on the work made on selected archaeological contexts.
In addition, a section dedicated to modern and contemporary art juxtaposing ancient art materials studies will be presented by cultural heritage scientists, art historians, and architects.
A symposium on the “Search for Egyptian Blue pigment” will be presented on the second day of the Ostia fest. Contrasting the study of Ancient Roman sites and materials, Ostia fest II will end with a presentation of the Nunalleq Yup’ik archeological site and its community-based collaboration with the village of Quinhagak, Alaska
