Prasun Datta

Graduate Student - NC State | Researcher | Avid Learner

Hello.

This is Prasun Datta, an orophile as well as a hodophile. As those two beautiful words represent, I’m, by nature, a person who has the desire to explore, loves to learn the craft of solving problems, and cherishes a strong desire to leave a meaningful impact in my area of competence. Indeed, I enjoy considering life from the perspective of a nomad and a mountain enthusiast. The serenity and strength of resolute will can be derived from the mountain's silence. Nonetheless, I have the inclination towards integrating these learnings with my passion for research.

Currently, I am pursuing my PhD at the Department of ECE, North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, NC, USA. I work as a Graduate Research Assistant and  Teaching Assistant. I attained my Bachelor of Science(B.Sc.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering(EEE) with a major in “Communication & Signal Processing” from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

After completing undergrad, I joined as a “Lecturer” at United International University (UIU) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering(CSE). Moreover, I got the opportunity to have industry experience. Before joining as a faculty member, I served as a “Machine Learning(ML) Engineer” at adorsho praniSheba, an ML-based agro-farming company.

My research interests include Computer Vision (CV), Statistical Signal Processing, Deep Learning (DL) and its applications, Machine Learning, Data Visualization and Analytics. In my research, I try to investigate mathematical reasoning and come up with innovative ideas that are efficient and have a real-world impact.
